A sad but true fact is that many people in today’s society must make it a point to stay on top of what the signs of cheating are, whether it be in real life, with the use of a computer, or their spouse or partners use of a cell phone. Once a person has already gone through the frustrations and pain that infidelity can and does often cause, they generally make it a habit to be well-informed on the many different signs of cheating that should be watched for in any type of relationship.

Most everyone these days owns a cell phone and they conduct a large portion of their communication through these devices. This is not only done through incoming and outgoing phone calls that are made, but often times it is done through sending and receiving SMS and text messages. Not only are cell phones commonly used for personal and business use, but individuals that commit infidelity in their relationship have realized that communication with another party can easily be done by using their cell phone, and then they simply erase text messages and other evidence of cheating.

What many of these people are not aware of is that once an innocent partner notices the signs of cheating, there is a way that they can recover erased text messages and other pieces of data even after they have been completely removed from the phone. This is done through what is known as cell phone forensic investigations. Using this type of investigation, an experienced private investigator can easily retrieve erased text messages and other pertinent data that can prove or disprove the innocence or guilt of a spouse or partner.

When you would like to uncover signs of cheating that may be recovered in erased address book entries, phone log, caller ID, photographs and graphics, and other areas where data is stored on a cell phone, consult with a professional that knows how to recover deleted text and other data, which can give you the information you need to confront ythe person that claimed to only have eyes for you.

It is important to note that SIM card readers have become widely known for damaging important data that is trying to be obtained when individuals try to retrieve deleted text using these devices. For this reason cell phone forensic investigations have become much more popular than the use of SIM card readers.

To a large portion of society it has been concluded that being faithful in a relationship has become a luxury of the past. This is because there is a large percentage of men and women these days that find it easy to throw away everything they have built in their relationships or marriages, just to take a glimpse into the world of the unknown and commit the act of infidelity. An increasing number of men and women become victims to this excruciatingly painful act of disloyalty. There are ways, however, for victims to catch a cheater, which will supply them with a sufficient amount of proof to confront their partner on this type of disheartening matter.

Because of the immeasurable number of nooks and crannies found of the Internet, many cheaters that this is a secure place to commit acts of unfaithfulness. They often feel there is no chance their partner will be able to find enough evidence to confront them or have sufficient proof to bring before a judge in a divorce proceeding. However, luckily for the victim, there are very effective ways to catch a cheater and find more than enough evidence for a confrontation, and to supply an ample amount of proof within a divorce proceeding to prove infidelity.

In the profession of investigations, and generally in a matter of a very short time, an experienced professional will easily be able to detect a variety of sources that will leave no question in the mind of the victim, whether there is in fact cheating occurring, or if a spouse has been faithful. Having expertise in this line of work, they have the experience required to find ‘cyberspace footprints’ of detailed areas on the web that have been visited.

In many situations where people have deleted their emails, deleted their history of browsing activities, and even used software to shred data, there is still hidden information that is left behind that can be used to catch a cheater.

There are several telltale signs that are often signals that your partner is up to no good. These include visiting social networking websites, signs of being nervous when you come near them while they are on the net, and a sudden new interest to delete all of their activity on the computer that they did not do in the past. Professionals in the field of online investigations are in the business of giving victims an efficient way to catch a cheater.

Colorado Springs, Colorado July 29, 2011 -
A recent study revealed that in America, approximately 2.5 million adults suffer from compulsive gambling, about 3 million are considered problem gamblers, around 15 million adults are at risk of becoming problem gamblers.148 million fall under the low risk gambler category.

That’s why EmailRevealer.com an Internet investigations service run by Ed Opperman of Opperman Investigations Inc has launched a custom designed investigative service aimed at obtaining evidence of Internet gambling addiction.

Retrieving evidence of an Internet gambling addiction, can prove to be beneficial when one is trying prove a parent is unfit in child custody litigation. However, due to legal restrictions and privacy laws, consumers are not generally able to access the membership lists of online gambling sites without a court ordered subpoena.. This is why Email Revealer’s new Internet Gambling Addiction Investigation can be helpful in child custody litigation.

According to Ed Opperman, the owner of EmailRevealer.com and the inventor of this new service, “This [Gambling Addiction Investigation] is an excellent legal method of obtaining evidence of a gambling addiction. So far we have had great sucess, much better than the dating Service Infidelity Investigation”

Opperman’s web site, EmailRevealer.com¸ describes Internet gambling investigation as being for people that have noticed signs of gambling addiction and suspect their partner is betting online with a secret online betting account.

“The way the search works is we take a suspected gamblers email address and use it to search all the online gambling web sites. We return a report of a list of sites the email is registered on ” Says Opperman. “It’s better than the dating site search because people use a real verified email address to gamble with because they want to get paid if they win”

Email Revealer’s email tracing services are not limited to gambling or infidelity, however. Alongside locating cheaters and gamblers, their Reverse Email Search Investigation services can locate or identify cyber stalkers or people engaged in Online defamation. It can also locate people like bail jumpers or run away teens.

Ed Opperman President and senior investigator of Opperman Investigations Inc, a private detective agency based in Colorado is also President of Accurate Information Recovery. A computer and cell phone forensics examination and data recovery company based in Nevada.

Having grown up on the tough streets of the South Bronx in NYC , Ed learned at an early age how to navigate between both sides of the law. He negotiated his way from street gangs to the college campus. Earning his degree and certification in Paralegal Studies on the CSI campus in Staten Island New York.. Ed has led a very colorful life, running with the bulls in Pamplona Spain, competing in marathons and participating in may political causes both as a political activist and street protestor and mainstream campaign fundraiser. A successful businessman in many fields Ed has owned and operated a Manhattan nightclub as well as a telecommunications company. .

Ed has worked in the investigations field since the early 1980s first as an information broker and later in counter electronic surveillance. Working for the defense with some of NYCs top law firms and private investigators in many high profile organized crime cases. Later he teamed up with 2 retired NYPD Detectives to do employment and background screening Investigations.

In 1997 using his experience in telecommunications Ed began to investigate and trace emails back to the sender. He was able to use these techniques to locate and identify an organized group of Usenet cyber stalkers that were at the core of a 60 million dollar defamation lawsuit. At the time this type of investigation was unheard of. But Ed developed many techniques that are now considered to be the standard methods used by FBI and DHS in email tracing investigations. More recently Ed Opperman Investigations Inc and EmailRevealer.com were enlisted by Howard Stern’s “Howard 100 News” dept to identify the sender of a false and defamatory email sent to thwart the appointment of a candidate in Greenwich Conn .

He used these email tracing techniques to invent a method of Internet infidelity investigation to trace a persons email address to online dating personal ads, dating sites, social networks, porn site, cam site and escort site memberships. Opperman Investigations Inc is the inventor and sole provider of this service worldwide.

In 2003 Ed teamed up with the ‘founding fathers’ of Cell Phone Forensics and digital data recovery. These men were fresh from the fields of Afghanastan hot on the heels of international terrorists. At the time this was a technology that was extremely cutting edge. Ed soon made a name for himself in this area and has become the leading provider of this type of Digital Forensic Investigation.

Extramarital infidelity wreaks havoc on all relationships, even if it is only suspected infidelity, without any real evidence to back it up. Regardless of whether you are contemplating whether you should confront your spouse, or whether you are confused, but do not really know what to do next — here is how you can deal with a suspected affair.

Get proof of extramarital infidelity

Going out on a limb, so to speak, and accusing your partner of having an affair is probably the worst thing that you could do if you do not have any proof to back up your feelings.

An unfaithful spouse may easily be able to explain away any signs of cheating that you notice, and if you let on that you think that they are cheating, a sneaky cheater will just be more careful in the future.

Additionally, if you confront a non-cheating spouse and come across in an accusatory way, you may alienate your spouse and drive them away from you, doing long-term damage to your relationship. However, if you are going to accuse your spouse of something as bad as extramarital infidelity, you should have proof beyond a reasonable doubt that they are, in fact, cheating on you.

Because many extramarital relationships start online these days, online fidelity investigations are the best way to acquire the facts you need either to reinforce your feelings, or to dispel any suspicions you may have about your spouse’s fidelity.

Depending on the service that you choose to use, you may be able to pinpoint a cheating spouse’s profile on online dating websites, or even catch them in the act of trying to solicit a new partner.

Get the support of an unbiased, yet trustworthy, friend or family member

Before you confront your spouse, but after you have proof of extramarital infidelity, consult with somebody — a trusted friend, or a family member whom you respect. It is important that you try to find somebody who can be somewhat unbiased here — for instance, do not consult with somebody who has always “had it in” for your spouse — their advice may not be the best advice for you in this situation.

Confronting an adulterer can be very difficult, and in some cases, it can be dangerous. You probably know your spouse better than anybody does, but once you have talked to your spouse about what you have found, you are likely going to need somebody to confide in, at least for a while, and having a trusted friend on hand can help. Plus, it is always wise to have somebody around in case your spouse has a tendency towards violent behavior.

Dealing with extramarital infidelity is hard — there is very little doubt about that. However, before you make a decision to confront your spouse about your suspicions, it’s a good idea that you be sure that you have proof to back up your feelings, and that you have a trustworthy friend available to help you through the troubling times.

By the Denver Private Investigator Blog

COLORADO SPRINGS — A Colorado private investigator is attracting boatloads of national press by identifying emailers and conducting other cyber-stalking investigations for a wide range of clients, including celebrities.Ed Opperman of EmailRevealer.com

Ed Opperman of EmailRevealer.com recently investigated the origin of an e-mail complaining about one of the producers of shock-jock radio talker Howard Stern. The case made national headlines, and it’s far from the only time Opperman has worked for celebrities.

Opperman offered some insights into his cyber-sleuthing in a recent e-interview with the Denver Private Investigator Blog.

Private Investigator Blog: What is your background as a PI? What types of cases did you work most often?

Opperman: I worked as an information broker in the 80′s and made a good name for myself. I got hired by PIs in NYC to do organized crime cases. Went on to do other things, then teamed up with some retired NYC cops in 2000 to do employment screening for UPS. Then I branched out into full-service PI work. Now I mostly do cyber-stalking investigations, computer and cell phone forensics to recover data in infidelity cases. I also invented a search to trace email address back to online dating services to catch people cheating online.

Private Investigator Blog: Why are you based in Colorado?

Opperman: I like the licensing laws, tax rates, climate, small town feel, inexpensive labor and rents.

Private Investigator Blog: What career path led you to form your current business?

Opperman: I went to school for paralegal studies, I worked for licensed investigators in NYC as an information broker and then in the telecommunications field. I expanded that into my cell phone forensics and email tracing. I partnered with retired LEO to do employment screening, but then took advantage of my experience in telecommunications to do email tracing.

Private Investigator Blog: How do you promote your business?

Opperman: Article writing, word of mouth, referrals. I don’t advertise at all. Most of my clients come to me from PIs or lawyers I worked with in NYC 25 years ago. I have a good reputation among my fellow investigators and law firms. I try to promote my business to professionals in the business for a flat rate fee.

Private Investigator Blog: You seem to attract a lot of the celebrity clients, and then you promote what you do for them on your web site. How do you attract them? And how do you get their permission to use them in your company promotional materials? Among the celebrity clients that you ask for permission to cite in your company’s promotional materials, what percentage turn you down?

Opperman: I fell into that. I did a few jobs for some high profile clients and word gets around. My biggest cases have never been publicized. But more recently in the Tiger Woods case I was retained by a talent agent/manager and all her jobs are for public release. The jobs are designed to be press-released. I never ask for permission to press- release a job. Those jobs that get press releases come to me initially as jobs that are intended for press-release.

I have worked and I am working for some other celebrity/political cases that I would never dream of press-releasing or ever asking to press release. In fact if you notice there are jobs I’ve done, like the one you initially contacted me about [regarding Howard Stern], that are widely reported in the press already but I have never press released.

I’ve also had several very high profile celebrity cases that were initially meant for press release but after the investigation, the results were not suitable for public release.

Private Investigator Blog: Are celebrities good clients? Are they more demanding than your “regular” clients?

Opperman: I work through the agent/ managers so it’s no different than working for a lawyer. In my opinion they are less difficult than lawyers. LOL I’ve consulted with many celebrities directly mostly in pre-litigation but all my consultations in those instances have been very friendly and amicable.

Private Investigator Blog: Without giving away proprietary information, tells us what you can about how you obtain the information you provide your clients The common understanding is that in order to get an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to provide the name of the owner/user of an email address, you have to have a subpoena. Do you get around that somehow, or do you simply provide the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer from which an email was sent? What do you tell your clients who want more?

Opperman: I never request information from an ISP unless it’s with a subpoena. But that’s not the only way to obtain information from an email address. I have my own database. I have access to many databases but I also have ways of contacting the e-mailer or luring them into traps that will reveal their identity. In fact the Howard Stern case was a very simple trace. If they had not mentioned on the air that I was tracing the email it would have been very easy to identify him. At the same time I was doing the exact same job for a city attorney in a California and it only took a few days to ID the e-mailer. The investigations were identical.

Your question is based on the misconception that identifying the person behind an email address begins and ends with an examination and trace of the e-mail header. I could talk about this for hours and hours. There is much more to an email trace investigation than just a header trace or examination.

Private Investigator Blog: Are there any limitations on what you can obtain with respect to emails and email users/owners? In other words, what do you have to tell your clients that you CANNOT get?

Opperman: Of course. There’s no guarantee. It’s an investigation like any other investigation. In fact I turn down or reverse many clients every week. Some cases are impossible and not worth wasting time. If I cannot get enough information to return a report then it’s a not a hit. If I return a report and they need further investigation or consultation with LEO or their attorney then I bill hourly. For instance in the Howard Stern case, I was able to prove the e-mail was only created a few minutes before it was sent and then I was able to trace it back to a city computer. So now that’s enough to report to the city and have it complete the investigation without contacting the ISP with a subpoena. But that’s just one example of how this kind of investigation is completed with successful results.

Private Investigator Blog: What do you like most about your work as a PI?

Opperman: I like helping people in trouble. If you look at my Facebook you’ll see people thanking me for helping to reunite their family. I like locating or identifying cyber stalkers after the clients have been told it was impossible. I’ve located run away kids, non-custodial child abductions. That kind of investigation is very satisfying.

Private Investigator Blog: What do you hate most about your work as a PI?

Opperman: I don’t like the billing and collections and clerical work on that end. I enjoy the investigation, finding information but I don’t like to have to ask for more money. I try to keep all my services at a flat fee. Then leave it to the client to request further work. I think that’s fair.

There is a lot of incorrect information about email tracing floating around the Internet. Many times when a person asks how to locate or identify the owner of an email account they are told it’s impossible without a search warrant, court order or subpoena. This is simply incorrect. Many times trained private investigators have traced emails back to the owner without the benefit of the courts. Then after they have identified the owner they simply reduce the details of their investigation to a report that can be used in civil litigation or a criminal investigation. When their report is presented to law enforcement many times they can duplicate the steps of the investigation and get the exact same results.

Other times the PI can trace an email address back to a web site or financial transaction where the owner of the email has been verified already. The email address is actually connected to the owners bank account or credit card. Sometimes they have even received a delivery to their home or business that is directly connected to the email address being investigating. Even signing for the delivery. So all a private investigator has to do is document this information and the attorneys or law enforcement in the case can take that identifying information and go forward from there. It’s all verifiable by third parties without the need for a warrant or subpoena.

In some cases the owner of an email can be contacted and identifying information can be obtained about their computer and ISP. This information can be compared to suspects and in some cases an exact match can be made that would be specific enough that it could be used to make an exact identification. At the very least that stage of the investigation can exclude suspects and narrow down the scope of the investigation. Saving valuable time and money to the client. Also many times the subject of the investigation can be lured into a trap where they not only identify themselves but demonstrate that they are the owner of the email account but also that they are using the email account for unlawful or illegal purposes. This can also be documents by the investigator and presented to law enforcement.

Of course there are many other avenues available to an investigator that should not be revealed in a public article. Doing so would just make it easier for the bad guys to cover their tracks. The information listed here is just the tip of the iceberg and only a fraction of the ways to trace an email account to the owner without a subpoena or court order.

There are a million reasons why you may need to recover deleted text messages from an iPhone. Perhaps you accidentally deleted important evidence for a court case or you suspect infidelity in a spouse. It may even be a child data you need to recover in order to find out if they are abusing drugs.

If you find yourself in a situation where you need to recover deleted text messages from an iPhone you may be wondering exactly how many messages deleted can be retrieved. This is not a simple question to answer. It’s like asking how long is a piece of string. There are just too many variable to know in advance of a physical examination if the device.

A great deal of information can be recovered with a digital forensic examination of a cell phone:

- Website addresses that have been visited
- Address book
- Settings for mail
- Notes
- Preferences
- Calendar
- Text, SMS, and Sext messages
- Pictures and graphics
- Detailed call history that includes the duration and times of calls that have been made and received
- Names and telephone numbers of contacts
- Other data that has been deleted from the iPhone

Some of the factors that will determine the results are a data recover are the storage capacity of the unit and the daily usage of the device. When we speak of daily usage we are not only talking about the number of texts. The number of apps, pics and videos can also affect the storage and recoverability of the SMS or texts.

Whenever a text message is deleted it creates open storage space on the internal memory of the device. As new data is entered into the device it can overwrite old deleted data. The new data will look for any open space to write to. This new data does not have to be a new text message. It could be a video or pic or any other type of new data.

There are just too many factors to predict how much deleted data can be recovered before you run a full forensic examination of the device.

When examining an iphone we have another option of examining the backup files. If the data from the phone has been backed up to your personal computer we can copy those files and examine and recover deleted data from there. This is advantageous because those backed up files will not be affected by new data written into the device itself. minimizing the risk of having deleted text messages overwritten.

If your email account has been hacked you will need to take immediate steps to correct the situation. The first thing you must determine is if the account has been hacked by a stranger or someone that’s close to you that wants to spy on you and your private communications. The second thing you need to decide is if you want to catch them or just let them get away with it.Now if it’s just a stranger that has hacked into your account by stealing your password it’s likely they only did this to use your email account to send out spam advertisements to people. If this is the case you just need to contact your email provider and follow their step by step procedures to recover you account and change your password. At this point it would be safe to go to all the online accounts you have and make changers to those passwords also.

If the person who has stolen your password and email account is someone who has targeted you specifically to spy on you and invade your privacy you will probably want to catch them in the act and have them arrested and prosecuted. After all someone that has gone to all that effort to stalk you is capable of anything. At the very least you will want to go to court and get a restraining order.

So in this situation the first thing you want to do is go directly to the police and make a report. If the police have the time and recourses they can examine your hard drive, serve your email provider with a search warrant and gather enough information to trace the hacker down and make an arrest.

If your local police don’t seem too interested in helping or even act is if they don’t believe you then you can hire a private investigator. There are private investigators that can remotely monitor your email account and see if anyone is accessing your email account without your permission. They can recover identifying information about the unauthorized access to your account and reduce that information to a report you can turn over to the police.

In many cases they can get an exact identification of the hacker and provide documented proof of the crime.

Another step is a computer hard drive examination. Sometimes an examination of your hard drive can recover the presence of a key logger or trojan virus and you may even be able to find out an email and password where all your personal information has been sent. Once again this is very damaging evidence.

Once again this information can be reduced to a report that can be used to make an arrest and get a conviction. If you are the victim of a stalker that has hacked into your email account you need to take the correct steps to protect yourself.
